Conclusions
On the eve of our final conference, we have published "Social and economic policies matter for health equity", the document that summarises the main findings and policy implications of SOPHIE. A brief summary in Spanish ("Las políticas sociales y económicas tienen consecuencias en las desigualdades en salud.") and Catalan ("Les polítiques socials i econòmiques tenen conseqüències en les desigualtats en salut).") are also available.
Over the past few years, SOPHIE has accumulated evidence regarding the influence of social and economic policies on the health of the population and on social inequalities in health. At the same time, SOPHIE has shown how equity-oriented policies can ameliorate these health inequalities. These studies can help public health and social justice advocates build a strong case for fairer social and economic policies.
